Many will reflect on its ups and downs, successes and failures every year-end. The same is true for 7979. We assess cases of poor and underprivileged children we have helped and count the blessings we have received. This is similar to saving those washed-up shore starfish, picking them up and throwing them back to the sea one by one. Most probably, we will not save all of them, but we save as many as we can.    

In September of this year, a report released by Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) claimed that from the year 2019 to 2022, the number of absolute poor households has increased drastically, especially in the cities. The pandemic has caused long-term effects on low-income families and thus broadened the income gap.

By supporting the churches with programs under 7979 (Crisis Intervention Assistance, Underprivileged Children Companionship Class, Manna Food Bank, Major Disaster Response and Community Emergency Relief), we can meet the needs of poor families or families in crisis. Whenever these families are under tremendous pressure, with companionship, encouragement and assistance, they will still strife forward with hope even if the prospect seems bleak.    

I, hereby sincerely invite you to walk with us, together we assist poor and underprivileged families in bracing themselves for difficulties in life. Let us use practical actions to care for them, by providing resources such as manpower, materials and financial in the three areas listed below.

Firstly, enhance the knowledge, attitude and ability of service recipients, enable them with survival skills and people-helping skills;

Secondly, implement preventive measures, to reduce the risk factors that service recipients may encounter in the future;

Thirdly, when the service recipients encounter unfortunate incidents, immediate actions must be taken to mellow down the impact to prevent more tragedies.

​Let’s get out there together and start saving!

每年年终，许多人会回顾这一年当中经历的喜、哀、成、败；7979也会从过去所做的事情当中，评估所帮助的贫穷和弱势家庭与孩子，并数算所领受的祝福。这如同帮忙把搁浅沙滩的海星，一只只放回大海。也许无法将所有的海星放回海中，但能救多少，就救多少。

今年9月底国库控股研究所（KRI）刚发布的报告显示，赤贫家庭户数在2019年到2022年之间明显增加，城市情况尤其显著。疫情对低收入家庭的收入造成深远的影响，扩大了收入差距。¹

7979透过所推行的方案（急难家庭救助、弱势儿童陪读、吗哪食物银行、重大灾难回应和社会紧急事件），支援教会，来介入贫穷和急难家庭的需求，让这些家庭在面对重重的生活压力下，有人陪伴、鼓励和帮助，即使前方道路困难，也愿意怀抱希望，向前走。

在此恳请您陪我们一同向前走，共助贫穷及弱势家庭迎难而上，并在人力、物力和财力等资源方面，协同7979在以下三方面，以实际行动关心他们。
第一， 提升受助者的知识、心态和能力，让他们具备应付生存的能力，面对助人的挑战；
第二，采取预防措施，以降低未来更多受助者可能遇到的风险；
第三，若个案发生不幸事故，就要立即采取行动介入，舒缓情况，救人于难。

让我们大家一起7979，去救去救！
