The recent incident of a missing 6-year-old Chinese girl, became viral just over one night. Prayers and clues flowed in from everywhere, and even a search bounty was issued, not surprisingly, all these activities caught the public attention. Fortunately, the police cracked the case and found the girl, which in turn helped to turn away the public focus.

In actuality, many missing children (Below 18-year-old) cases went under the radar of the public: Year 2021: 594 cases, year 2022: (902 cases) and year 2023 (779 cases), from these 3 year’s statistics we can conclude that every day, 2 children were missing. Most reported missing children were located and returned home, while about 4% remained missing.

While we encourage parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children's whereabouts, we also practise the concept of “it takes a village to raise a child”. This idiom tells us that a child needs the support and interaction of the whole society, for them to grow in a secure and healthy environment.

The Bible prophesied, “ Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” But John also said: “Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” Therefore, Christians should be those who would turn from indifference to love and concern to counter the gradual coldness effect and to shine the light of hope in this chaotic and wicked world.

Malaysia Police Department has set up a database “Nur Alert”, its purpose is to locate missing children aged 12 years and below. If you happen to have any information related to missing children, please call hotline no. 15999. If you wish to receive first-hand information regarding missing children, to assist in locating the missing child in the shortest time, you may choose the category of parties to be informed through your mobile phone company.

Nowadays, society provides lots of opportunities to do kindness, such as participating in this year 7979 organised “Challenger’s Camp” donation drive. This activity does not only enable participants to experience the difficulties of the underprivileged, but it can also raise money for them.

最近在新山发生的6岁华裔小女孩失踪案件，一夜之间在网络和社媒被炸开般的疯传；从各界的祈祷、线索，甚至悬赏寻人，不出所料，引起社会大众高度的关注。所幸几天后警方找到了小女孩，拐带她的疑犯也遭逮捕，并提控了。事件迅速降温，其他吸睛的事又分散公众的注意力。

其实，马来西亚发生不少失踪孩童（18岁以下）鲜为人知的案件：2021年：594宗；2022年：902宗，2023年：779宗；这些发生案件的数据显示，三年来平均每一天有2名孩童失踪¹。大部分的孩童成功被寻回，未破案的案件则有约4巴仙。

我们一方面在鼓励家长和监护人要时刻关注孩子的去向和动向，另一方面却“需要一村人养大一个孩子”（it takes a village to raise a child)的观念。这句谚语表达的含义是整个社会的人都必须支持孩子们，并积极与他们互动，以便孩子们在安全健康的环境中成长。
圣经预言“由于罪恶增多，许多人的爱心就会冷淡。”，但约翰也说“我们应当彼此相爱，因为爱是从神来的。凡有爱心的，都是由神而生，并且认识神。”。所以基督徒们应是从冷淡转向关爱的一群，抗衡冷漠化，在纷扰败坏的世界里发挥希望的光芒。

大马警方有架设一个专门寻找失踪12岁以下孩童的资料库—--国家紧急回应警报（Nur Alert）。若遇到失踪孩童的事，您可以拨打热线15999 通报。若您想第一时间收到有关失踪孩童的讯息，以便可以在最短时间协助寻人，可以透过各自的电讯公司，选择加入受通知名单。
现今社会，有太多行善的机会，例如参与7979今年举办的“救助挑战营”的捐献活动。这项活动不仅让参加者有机会体验弱势群体的困境，也能为他们筹募资金。
