The Post Pandemic Eternal Norms of Caring Ministries
Dear Care Givers,
Shalom in Christ! In Jesus’s name I proclaim that you and your family are protected and covered by Jesus’s precious blood in this end time pandemic. On behalf of HISTEAM, I would like to send greetings to all of you, hoping that in this pandemic caused turmoil, you remain faithful to your call and vision from above, and adjusted well in this new norm, continue to stand in the gap that God had entrusted you and be a testimony to His miraculous acts.
While HISTEAM busy responding to the massive need of grassroots group, Holy Spirit also reminded us to show concern to other caring ministries’ daily operation need. When the condition of pandemic deteriorated till the beginning of April, two weeks after we prayed specifically for caring co-workers, I received news of challenges and how caring co-workers suffered under the causation effect of pandemic. Therefore, from 5th May till end of June, HISTEAM called upon family members in Christ to channel their offering to bless caring organisation operation fund. Through questionnaires sent out and received by Histeam co-workers, and also telephone calls, we had a better understanding of the financial condition of social ministries. We had already distributed the raised amount of RM55,000 to 19 caring organisations and 3 co-workers who are in crisis respectively. Praise to be our good Lord!
In this pandemic, I have more solitude time to be still, pray and reflect. Under the new norms of pandemic, the Lord reminded me of the eternal norms that our Lord of harvest is really concern of, that require us to carry out. Please allow me to share over here the 3 points of my findings that are closely related to social concern.
1. The Lord of harvest desires to see more souls being harvested as a result of our service based ministries
You are right! This is the Great Commission issued by God that we are very familiar with. Pandemic had taken many lives, other than the need of our beneficiaries, it reminded us that the best gift that we should never forget to give to our service recipients is: Jesus Christ. This is the ultimate concern and mission of global churches and God’s children in end time. One of the biggest challenges of caring co-workers is when we responded eagerly to the worldly need of the needy, the busy schedule and tiredness follow by will lead us away from leading the lost sheep outside the pen to God’s loving Son’s kingdom. This pandemic reminded us to work hard for the realization of caring mission, the implementation of both the Greatest Commandment and the Great Commission. My co-workers, let us strive to achieve it!
2. The Lord of harvest desires to see caring ministries help each other by sharing resources
Many years ago, I heard from my mentor that a medium size church wanted to build a church on their purchased new plot of land, so they had a major fund raising drive. In the midst of fund raising, the pastor found out that there is a small church nearby being forced to move out from their premises and had no permanent location for gathering. Under the work of Holy Spirit, the pastor felt that the small church needs the money more urgently than his church, therefore he gave the money that his church raised to the small church. This is such a beautiful testimony of family members in Christ living harmoniously together!
This is also my heartfelt prayer, I hope so much that caring ministries that operate in Jesus’s name, who are in the season of abundant blessing, remember the need of family members in Christ who are in the season of lacking. Let us who serve with the banner of love, help each other amidst suffering, thus make 2 Cor. 8:15’s promises realize in our years to come: “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”
3. The Lord of harvest desires to see caring ministries continue to sustain and experience transformational change
Dear co-workers, if you are like me, the decision maker of an organisation, then it is time for us to plan ahead for our successor and sustainability of our organisation. It is certain, there will be more turmoil in the future and more challenges to face which will test our creativity to multiply, adjustment ability and perseverance. From the moment I stepped into caring ministry, I already had this burden to care for my close knitted family members of caring ministries, ensuring caring organisations can work towards high professionalism and high quality of caring. Henceforth, HISTEAM has been insisting to organize the 4 years once Malaysian Christian Holistic Care Conference (MCHCC), 2 years once Caregivers Retreat, occasional enriching caring seminars, trainings and workshops. Lately, we also had been promoting Social Concern Certificate Course (SCCC) and Diploma in Social Work (DSW) for enhancement of care givers. Please seriously consider to enroll your co-workers into SCCC or DSW, so that your organisation is prepared to provide competent future co-workers who can fulfill requirements of high professionalism. Our Yang Di-Pertuan Agong had deliberately voiced out the important of Social Workers Act in the only one time assembly of parliament in the month of May, I believe the enactment of this Act and its implementation is not far away. Dear co-workers, this enhancement platform that we had meticulously prepared for you, please cherish it!
Finally, during this period of time that we are unable to have close contact, I hope that you are in good hands and remember each other in prayer. We may meet when the pandemic is close to the end. Please remember to share with me if in this period of time you had experienced any miracles with the leading of Pillar of Fire and Cloud. May the peace of our Lord be with you!
