(For English please scroll down) A Love that Let Us Grow A Story of Crisis Intervention · Written by CSG “When the melody of praise rings, my heart is all for you ….”
The tune of praise and worship rose once again surrounding Uncle Wei’s house. This is a regular activity for all the volunteers on every Sunday after service, when they gather in Uncle Wei’s house. They sing praise song together and pray for Uncle Wei’s family while they connect and care for each other. This is Uncle Wei’s second application for emergency aid fund. Their first application was 2 years ago when his income suddenly dropped due to pandemic. This time, he lost his job and he contacted 7979 Holistic Care Station at Gereja Presbyterian Glorious Grace for help, hoping to apply for aid again. Although, Uncle Wei doing two jobs in a day, it is just barely sufficient to cover, food expenses, medical expenses for wife’s dialysis treatment and education fees for the children. Situation became worse after he lost his jobs. Feeling helpless, Uncle Wei sought 7979 Holistic Care Station for assistance again. The volunteer assisted him to look for job in addition to the application for emergency fund. This is to ensure they can continue to sustain their daily expenses. Also fetch his children to the companionship class to save on tuition fees a better learning environment too. When the volunteer came to know that Uncle Wei’s family has about 3 years’ outstanding electricity bill, they raised fund to settle half of the debts. This is the second time this family come in touch with church. The care and help of volunteers make them believe the love of Jesus, and finally accepted Jesus as their savior. His children attend Sunday School, but because Uncle Wei needs to work and it is inconvenient for his wife to leave home, hence, they are not able to attend Sunday Service. So, every Sunday the volunteers will pay a visit to worship, pray and share with them the Words of God. Going the extra mile to care for those in need in this way allows the volunteers to grow faster. They learn that it is not only to bring people in need to church, but more so for volunteers to step out to care for people in need, whether it is their possessions or spiritual needs.
