Accident · Harvest STORY FROM FAMILY CRISIS INTERVENTION PROGRAMME · WRITTEN BY tang
“Mothers are the best. They are the best gift that every child can have.” Mrs Teo raised her son, Teo, alone. It was a difficult process, which became even harder ever since her husband passed away. Her problems weren't over yet. Teo met with an accident which paralyzed him and left him bed-ridden. Mrs Teo, who was already in her sixties, was responsible for all their bills. Year after year, she worked as an operator in a nearby factory and rushed back to take care of her son everyday after work.
Although he was paralyzed, yet Teo was aware of his surroundings. He knew what his mother did for him, but they never expressed their love for each other, as a custom in their traditional Chinese family. They thought this routine would continue forever, until one day, Mrs Teo got word that their factory would be relocated.
Rumours of the big move had long spread across the factory. One month ago, the management officially broke the news to the workers. Mrs Teo started panicking, she was going to lose her job! Where would she work now? Their future was instantly plunged into darkness.
Incidentally, one of her neighbours noticed that something wasn't right, and asked her about what happen. She pointed Mrs Teo towards Chen-Li Presbyterian Church JB 7979 Holistic Care Station for help. She even volunteered to let someone from the church know about her situation. From then onwards, the church started attending to their needs.
The church then assigned Elder Xiao Ting. She started following up with Mrs Teo and Teo, and her sincerity made them trust her. The church not only helped Mrs Teo apply for the Emergency Fund, but also got a doctor to treat Teo, sponsored diapers for them, and even helped Mrs Teo get a new job.
Teo also changed a lot emotionally. He gradually became cheerful and was always smiling. He began appreciating his mother's perseverance. Even though he had an accident, he still received love and care from his mother, church members, and God.
Now, Mrs Teo has a new job. Teo also accepted Christ into his life as his Lord and Saviour. We hope that he will become stronger day by day by the grace of God.
