不因家境贫穷而吝啬，不因善小而不为

一年多前，槟城基督教卫理公会（油脚路堂）7979全人关怀站的志工透过朋友认识阿炳（化名）一家。当时还在MCO期间 ，阿炳没有工程可以进行，教会开始以吗哪食物包介入。虽然近期已经开放，但是阿炳近几个月脚肿，又因合约制的工作，公司偶尔以年龄大和身体状况为由，不将工作分配予他，因此失去许多工作机会。

阿炳是一名已近七旬的维修工人。他的妻子双手常会突然抽筋，因而无法工作。阿炳夫妇育有2名儿子，大儿子在台湾出家当和尚，不再回来；而小儿子小杰（化名）是一名残障人士，因无法控制尿意，所以需要长期穿着纸尿片。虽然小杰是残障人士，但感恩他拥有一份仓库管理员的工作。积极的他因此努力工作担起全家生计。 

尽管生活并不宽裕，但他们却有着一颗宽裕的心。遇到经济困难的亲戚，他们毅然伸出援手，常常打包食物接济。最近，志工探访他们时，更是发现他们家中多了一位老人家。一探之下，是最近在村里发现的一名80多岁的老人，居无定所。善良的阿炳于是就开放家里后方的一个小位子让他居住，并且与他一起分享所预备的食物，照顾他的三餐。 

他们家庭那么多的状况，但是却非常积极地生活。工作上的困境，教会能帮则帮，常常介绍一些维修工作给阿炳。此外，志工们也特别欣赏小杰的工作态度，虽然他身体有缺陷，却还是很认真积极地努力工作。尤其是这几个月开始有机会加班，小杰就非常开心。而重中之重，阿炳家从来不因为家境贫穷而吝啬，反而非常愿意分享他们仅有的东西，实在难能可贵。这就是他们一家让人最为感动的。

More than a year ago, volunteers from Penang Chinese Methodist Church (Madras Lane) 7979 Holistic Care Station met Ben (pseudonym) and his family through a friend. That was still in the period under MCO, Ben had no job to carry out, and the church started to intervene with Manna Food Bag. Although recently most of the industries had been allowed to resume their operations but Ben still cannot work due to his swollen feet since few months ago. Besides, because of the nature of contract job, the company assigned few job to him occasionally with reasons of age issue and physical condition, and thus he lost many job opportunities. 

Ben is a nearly seventy-year old maintenance worker. His wife often suffers from sudden cramps in her hands and it causes her unable to work. Ben and his wife have 2 sons. The eldest son became a monk in Taiwan and never came back. The youngest son, Jay (pseudonym), is a disabled person and needs to wear diapers all the time because he is unable to control the urge to urinate. Although Jay is disabled, he is grateful that he has a job as a warehouse manager. Therefore, he works hard to support the whole family. 

They are not rich, but they have a generous heart. When their relatives encounter financial difficulties, they resolutely lend a helping hand and often bring food to help. In a recent visit, the volunteers found that there was an old folk at their home. After understanding the situation, they found that it was an elderly man, in his 80s, who was recently found in the village, with no fixed living place. Ben opened a small space at the back of his house for him to live in, shared the prepared food with him and took care of his all meals.  

Even though there are so many challenges, they are still positively facing their life. Therefore, the church helps as much as they can, like introducing some maintenance jobs to Ben. In addition, the volunteers also appreciate Jay’s working attitude. Although he is physically handicapped, he still works hard and earnestly. Jay was very happy particularly when he had the opportunity to work overtime in the past few months. The most important thing is that Ben’s family has never been stingy although they have a poor family background. Instead, they are willingly to share what they have, which is really commendable. This is the most impressive thing about their family.
